Voting information

Advance Poll Dates

PLEASE REFER TO THE BROWN VOTING CARD YOU RECEIVED:

On October 31 (advance polling day) and November 7 (regular polling day), due to COVID restrictions and respecting social distancing, there will be two Polling Locations.  

There will be 7 polling stations at the Community center and 

5 polling stations at the school.  Your voting location will depend on which voting station you are in.

What to bring with you when voting

At the polling station, you must identify yourself by presenting one of the following documents:

  • Your health insurance card
  • Your driver’s license
  • Your Canadian passport
  • Your Certificate of Indian Status
  • Your Canadian Armed Forces identification card

Voting by Mail

Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, certain voters will be able to vote by mail in this election.
Eligible persons are those who are domiciled in Hampstead and who are in one of the following situations: 
• They are unable to move about for health reasons;
• They are a caregiver domiciled at the same address as a person unable to move about for health reasons;
• They must comply with a recommendation or isolation order from public health authorities between October 17, and October 27, 2021;
• They are 70 years of age or older on election day.
To vote by mail, you must make an oral or written request to the returning officer.

How Do I Vote?

Upon arriving, you will be greeted by the electoral officers. They will explain how to vote and direct you to the right place. Remember to bring an identification document.

Rest assured: the sanitary measures in effect at the time of the elections will be respected in all polling stations (wearing of a mask or face cover, physical distancing, disinfection of hands). 

Six steps in the voting process

Step 1

Proceed behind the polling booth. 

  

When you arrive at the table, provide the electoral officer your name and the address that entitles you to vote. Next, show an identification document and momentarily remove your mask or face covering to establish your identity. Put your mask or face covering back on immediately and disinfect your hands. You will then receive your ballot papers.

  

Step 2

Proceed behind the polling booth. 

  

Step 3

Make an X, check mark or other mark on each ballot paper. You can mark your ballot papers with your own black or blue pen or lead pencil. Pencils will be available if you do not have any.

  

Step 4

Fold each ballot paper over to hide your choice and leave the initials visible, then return to the table. 

 

Step 5

Step 6

Place your ballot paper(s) in the ballot box. Do not linger. Leave the polling place quickly through the exit door.
